Analytical Chemist

Columbia, MD

Job Description Summary:

  • Under the director of the Director, of R&D, the Analytical Chemist, located in Columbia, MD, will plan, develop and routinely execute various research and development of new products and improvements to current products.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain analytical laboratory with analytical instruments and provide best practices in management in the lab (equipment, supplies, glassware, safety procedures, etc.)
  • Maintain documents, lab notebook and SOPs
  • Develop both precise/accurate and high throughput analytical methods for new and existing active ingredients and impurities on instrument such as HPLC-UV, LC-MS and LC-MS/MS.
  • Provide analytical support for Certis Biologicals’ fermentation manufacturing plants and samples derived from fermentation broths, formulation samples and natural extract samples
  • Troubleshoot methods, assays, verifies and validates analytical methodology.
  • Conduct analysis and report results for samples from manufacturing sites and customers in a timely manner
  • Conduct data analysis and prepare detailed reports with conclusions and recommendations, and present the results obtained as needed.
  • Work independently and with interdisciplinary research teams.

 

Work Environment / Travel Requirements:

  • Work is conducted in a laboratory setting. Sitting, standing, pushing pulling and lifting up to 20 lbs. Travel may be required up to 3 times a year to the Company’s manufacturing sites in CA and MT.

 

Education/Experience:

  • Ph.D. or M.S. in chemistry required, 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Hands-on experience in analytical sample preparation and in maintenance and troubleshooting of
  • HPLC MS equipment.
  • Track record of performing analytical assays on HPLC, LC-MS and LC-MS/MS instruments.
  • Experience in analytical methods, development and validation, particularly on LC-MS and LC-MS/MS instruments, is desirable.
  • Development and performance in area of natural extracts and compound identification from Microbial sources, preferred
  • Work experience in biotechnology, pharmaceutical or agrochemical field, preferred.
