Garden to Greenhouse Sales Manager

Job Description Summary:

Under the direction of the Director of Garden2Greenhouse, (G2G) this position will develop a customer base within a geographical area in the Consumer Garden Professional Greenhouse, Nursery, and CEA industry. The Garden2 Greenhouse Regional Sales Manager will also obtain business results as established through business planning and goal setting. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Within the current distribution channel, the Regional Sales Manager will develop marketing plans and strategies and is accountable for managing and growing a defined customer base to meet and exceed territory sales budget and operating targets. 
  • Inspire to become involved in the business decision-making process of Certis customers and aid them in maximizing profitability and growth. 
  • Maintain and analyze a database/record of customer profiles (e.g., commodities consulted, main pests, and product requirements) to prioritize customer contacts. This will aid in understanding the overall territory scope and help recommend programs and services to meet and exceed customer needs while tracking business goals. 
  • Maintain effective business relationships with current customers and develop future customer relationships, based upon an approach of targeting customers with whom the company can profitably do business. 
  • Able to present ideas and positions in a cohesive and persuasive manner using written, verbal, and various software formats e.g., email, and public speaking. 
  • Ability to be enthusiastic, energetic, goal-driven, and highly motivated to complete tasks in a timely, efficient manner 
  • A self-starter and comfortable speaking before large group meetings as well as one on one customers. 
  • Ability to be positive, interactive, resourceful, and creative in problem-solving to the benefit of the business and customer. Ability to have positive beliefs in the future of biologicals for pest management and plant health. 
  • Provide technical support and product training for key retailers, distributor sales representatives, and consultants and end-users 
  • Keeps informed of competitor activities within the market area and recommends marketing program changes to the team/manager 
  • Must be proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Zoom. 


  • Bachelor of Science in an Agriculture, Agribusiness, Horticulture, Ag/Life Sciences, or related discipline. 
  • Five (5) years of progressively responsible sales/marketing experience in agri-business and/or other related customer service function. Equivalent combinations of education and experience, which result in the required level of knowledge, competencies, skills, and abilities, may be considered. 
  • Agronomic/Horticultural knowledge and experience in the G2G segments; particularly, hemp, vegetables, flowers, annual and perennial plants, and nursery plant production. 
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to work with limited direction and make decisions independently. 
  • Strong verbal and listening communication skills with the ability to creatively solve agronomic/horticultural problems and provide timely and sound recommendations. 
  • Good interpersonal relationships and capable of building strong work relationships with internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Demonstrated leadership and consensus-building. Comfortable speaking in front of people with the ability to make clear and compelling presentations. 
  • Strong computer skills (i.e., mobile technology (tablets/smartphones), scientific/statistical software, basic knowledge of databases and information reporting tools, etc.) 
  • PCA License required for California Role.


Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position requires normal, everyday use of standard office equipment. There may be a need to involve the handling of some production equipment and the ability to carry finished goods up to 50 pounds. There may be long periods of sitting and driving. There will be field exposure to areas such as, but not limited to, production farms, manufacturing plants and fertilizer, pesticide distributor, and applicator sites. 

Travel with this position is 40% to 50%.

Must be sufficiently centralized within California or the Pacific Northwest territories to maximize access to key markets and contacts. Company provides vehicle, computer, and other office tools for working from home. Salary is commensurate with experience and past performance.
