Columbia, MD, March 1, 2010 Certis USA announces that it has contracted with DJS Consulting Services, LLC of Seattle to provide technical and marketing support for the biopesticide company’s insecticidal virus product line. DJS owner and consultant Don Thomson is widely known for his expertise in the research and development of biologically based pest management tools. Under the consulting agreement, Thomson will assist Certis USA, its distributors and customers that use CYD-X® codling moth virus and Gemstar® corn earworm virus to develop sustainable pest management solutions in high-value crops.

Certis USA Director of Field Development Dr. Mike Dimock said, “We’ve been waiting for the opportunity to bring Don on board. He is going to be a great addition to our team, and I believe our customers will appreciate their access to him and his vast knowledge of viral biopesticides.

“We are serious when we say our company values expertise in the field,” Dimock said. “With the breadth of our product portfolio, it is likely that many customers’ first experience with a biopesticide involves a Certis product. That’s a big responsibility requiring us to be stewards for a whole category of products, not just our own. So it is important that we have the most knowledgeable and experienced people available for customer education and support. Don will help us do that.”

Thomson founded DJS Consulting in 1988 to conduct research trials, interact with regulatory agencies, and provide technical and sales support to end-users of biologically based products in agriculture and forestry. Previously Thomson held research and management positions with Pacific Biocontrol Corporation of Ridgefield, WA and Agriculture Canada of Summerland, British Columbia.

Thomson holds a Masters of Pest Management degree from Simon Fraser University, Burnaby, British Columbia; B.S. degree in Crop Protection Entomology from the University of British Columbia, Vancouver; and a diploma in ag-related sciences from Olds Agricultural College, Olds, Alberta.

For 11 years, Thomson has served as Executive Director of the Western Orchard Pest and Disease Management Conference, which is held in January in Portland, OR.
