One of those team members is a key part of our manufacturing team in Wasco, California. We sat down with Mohammad Hefnawi, Production Supervisor at the Wasco plant, to learn more about his role and how it contributes to delivering high-quality biologicals to growers across the globe.

What is your role at the Wasco manufacturing plant?

I’m the Production Supervisor, responsible for coordinating the day-to-day flow of manufacturing and packaging operations to ensure alignment with production goals and customer needs.

What does a typical day look like for you?

A lot of my day is focused on tracking progress across active sales orders and making sure packaging and manufacturing are working in sync. I verify work orders, plan tasks, and relay instructions to the production team—whether it’s a specific customer request or a unique requirement for an international market. Most importantly, I make sure our team has the tools and support they need to succeed.

How does your work contribute to the quality of
Certis products?

It’s a team effort. My role helps minimize downtime through efficient planning and coordination across departments—both here at Wasco and with our Columbia team. We focus on error-free execution, especially when it comes to packaging and meeting strict domestic and international labeling standards. Our goal is to ensure only the highest-quality materials make it to the final product.

Is there a project you’re particularly proud of?

I’ve really enjoyed working on our new Quality Assurance process, which is focused on reducing and eliminating customer complaints. We’ve also introduced new inventory control techniques that are helping us meet market demand more effectively.

How does the Wasco plant maintain consistency and
reliability in manufacturing?

Consistency starts with every step of the process—from growing seed flasks in the lab to fermentation and final packaging. Each department follows strict production parameters, and every employee brings both precision and experience to their work. There’s a lot of care and collaboration that goes into every batch.

What do you enjoy most about working in U.S.-based manufacturing?

There’s something powerful about seeing a product that’s made here in Wasco go out into the world and support growers globally. I take pride in knowing the work we do here has a real impact on millions of acres and crop health worldwide.
