Job Description Summary:

Skilled tradesperson to build, install, dismantle, maintain, repair and reassemble mechanical and electrical equipment at the Wasco Manufacturing facility in the safest manner, and to perform predictive and preventative maintenance. This position may be scheduled for shift work, weekend coverage and be on call as needed to support plant activities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Same duties as outlined in Maintenance Mechanic 1, 2 and 3 Job Description, plus
  • Read and interpret diagrams, blueprints and service manuals to determine and execute work procedures.
  • Operate rigging equipment and fixtures to lift, place and locate heavy machinery and parts.
  • Fit bearings, align gears and shafts, attach and install motors, and connect couplings and belts to precise tolerances.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical equipment AND instrumentation.
  • Generate, enter, maintain and close out work orders in the Maintenance & Engineering CMMS (computerized maintenance management system).
  • Help in the development and performance of predictive and preventative procedures.
  • Help in the training, development, supervision and evaluation of junior level mechanics and technicians.
  • Identify and recommend parts, machines and equipment for replacement.
  • Ensure processes are completed in the safest manner possible and on a timely basis.
  • Conduct duties with a positive and respectful attitude.
  • Adhere to all company polices as described in the employee guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area in the Wasco plant facility.
  • Look for ways to improve and promote safe work practices and maintenance techniques.
  • Excellent command of oral and written English with capabilities to maintain records, and write and present reports.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment:

  • Work environment will consist of both indoor and outdoor environments. Work may require functioning in confined space, hazardous environments, elevated and reduced temperatures and elevated locations, and possibly with the required use of a full faced respirator.
  • Able to climb heights, bend and twist, stoop, crawl, push and pull and kneel.
  • Work will involve moderate to severe physical exertion. Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds on normal basis and 80 pounds on intermittent basis.
  • Ability to reach in all directions.

Education, Experience and Minimum Requirements:

  • Technical training / certification to the level of Journeyman Millwright.
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience as a Millwright, consisting of minimum 1,600 hours on the job per year.
  • Possess good understanding of the use of precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators and optical and laser alignment tooling.
  • Subject to a technical proficiency test administered by the Maintenance & Engineering department and must score 80% to pass.
  • Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Subject to a hands-on test consisting of the performance of a “6G” welding exercise.
  • Must increase and expand technical competencies by attending and participating in continuing development courses and programs as required by the department.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (speak, read and write)
