Certis USA is Rewarded with Energy Efficiency Award and Rebates For Programs Implemented at Its Fermentation Facility in Wasco, CA
COLUMBIA, MD - September 3, 2011 - The Certis USA Fermentation Manufacturing Facility in Wasco, CA started implementing an ambitious energy efficiency initiative two years ago. This effort has led to an award by Southern California Gas Company (SoCalGas). SoCalGas recently granted Certis USA with the SoCalGas Energy Efficiency Excellence Award and several rebates in recognition of the company's energy efficiency investments in boiler replacement, energy recovery, and insulation improvement.
Plant Manager Alex Georgian, said, "Receiving the SoCalGas energy efficiency award is important. It is recognition that the hard work and commitment our employees have put towards saving energy are worthwhile. We appreciate it anytime a third party tells us we’re doing a good job. We are planning to invest in more energy efficiency projects in collaboration with SoCalGas and PG&E."
Approximately 50 people work at the Wasco fermentation facility to produce biopesticides sold by Certis USA and its tolling customers. All the products produced are organically certified, because they are of low risk to farmers, workers, animals and the environment. The products are used to control pests that threaten crops of vegetables, tree fruit, melon, tomatoes, vines, citrus, forestry and public health.
