The active ingredient polyoxin D zinc salt is derived from a natural fermentation process and controls plant pathogenic fungi by inhibiting the formation of chitin, a vital component of fungal cell walls. When the OSO comes in contact with pathogens, it stops early growth or colonization, and disease cannot spread to new plant tissue.
